Haerenga
The line down the middle of the board is a representation of "open water" which is our journey while we travel. This line is also a symbol for us who make a leap for change. The flowing moko on either side represents safe travel and a safe journey through life. Taratara a kae & ahu ahu mataroa designs are used in the detailing that flows throughout, representing whirikoka (strength) , māramatanga (understanding, enlightenment) & pahawa (achievement).
Mana
Our Mana we hold as people is symbolically shown throughout this deck along with detailing the connection between us and our tūrangawaewae (connection to the land). Mana is something that flows through us and can be seen in the way the Tā Moko flows and curves. The Pounamu colouring has also been used as a symbol of stregnth. Taratara a kae & ahu ahu mataroa designs are used in the detailing that flows throughout, representing whirikoka (strength) , māramatanga (understanding, enlightenment) & pahawa (achievement).
Whenua
This board is in the shape of a diamond with moko running through it. The diamond is known as one of the strongest materials in the world. The Tā Moko running through it represents the drive to be able to push through anything along with how we give back to our land. The Red, White and Black colours symbolise the Tinorangatiratanga flag and is a representation of our journey to our own independency and self determination. While using taratara a kae & ahu ahu mataroa in the detailing that flows throughout, representing whirikoka (strength) , māramatanga (understanding, enlightenment) & pahawa (achievement).
